Week in Review: 8/29 – 9/4 (Competition, Low-line Flow, Upcoming Schedule Change)

Theme

Last week we focused on low and flow movements with our low-line flow-line theme. We approached obstacles with the intention of making as much contact as possible while still flowing from movement to movement.  Instead of moving quickly through the environment, we challenged ourselves to move a little more slowly and mindfully, bringing full attention to our body and motions.  We ask ourselves, what we are doing with our hands, where are we putting our feet, where are we looking, what are we doing with our breath?  Training in this way encourages more of a focus on what our body wants to do naturally and helps us identify more efficient ways for us to interact with our environments.

Parkour Competition

This past Saturday we held our first annual parkour competition in the gym.  It was an epic event made even more exciting with the presence of B.A.S.E. Fitness Parkour from Fishers, Indiana.  We had a really nice turnout from both local and traveling communities.  There were a total of seven events with four timed events, two non-timed skill challenges, and a freestyle exhibition.  There were many winners in this weekend’s competition but the best part of it all was the massive amount of love and support from everyone who came out.  We are looking forward to next year for another even more epic and amazing event.  Special thanks to Ayren and the whole crew from B.A.S.E Fitness Parkour along with everyone who came out to make this an awesome time.

Schedule updates

We have officially posted our upcoming schedule for the fall.  You can find it on our both our website and at our front desk, where you can also sign up for classes and events.  The official fall schedule will go into effect on Monday, September 12th.  We have made some small changes to some of our classes and open gyms, so keep an eye out for your favorite classes and training sessions.

Tank tops

We now have new green parkour horizons tank tops and our classic t-shirts in stock for $20 at our Par-Store in the gym.  Keep an eye out for new tank tops in different colors coming soon.  You can see our coaches sporting the example tanks in the gym, so come down to check them out and pick up your own.  That summer heat is still kicking so make sure you bring water to drink during your training sessions.  If you forget though we are still selling bottled water for $1 in the Par-Store as well.
